The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Industrial Training Fund – ITF has initiated a program to promote the Value of hand works among Nigerians. Do you have a hand work or interested in learning handworks like Tailoring, Carpentry, Plumbing or Technician, you can now promote your products or learn a skill when you register for this SUPA ITF Artisan training Program.
This is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda targeted at creating gainful employment for the teeming youths of Nigeria. The program tagged “Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA)” is designed to empower people with handworks or people that wants to learn one hand work or the other through tech-enabled skills training, licensing, access to essential toolkits, and promoting industry standard on produced products.
The Federal Government through the Industrial Training Fund initiated this ITF SUPA program as a transformative project targeted at up-skilling, licensing, and empowering 10 million artisans in Nigeria.
With increasing poverty, sky rocketing cost of living, and high unemployment, the Government has now seen the need to empower local producers by creating requisite and greater opportunities towards Capacity Development, Quality Service Delivery, Employability, Growth, Market Promotion and Business Support for artisans in Nigeria.
The SUPA ITF program is tasked with the following responsibilities:

To identify, register and categorize Handworks across the different sectors of the economy.

To provide comprehensive Industry Standard compliant and certified training programs, including health and safety programmes for various trades such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical work, and many more.

To enable artisans access essential tools, equipment and funds to expand their trades.

To ensure Nigerian artisans are certified, licensed and operate using standardized methods and practices.

To enhance employment opportunities for artisans in local and international markets.
How to Benefit from ITF SUPA Registration
The ITF SUPA program is a community of artisans grouped into three different categories, interested individuals can register to join any of the categories.
1. Artisan – artisan in a trade area. This category covers people that are already trained and producing on their own, they can join the program to promote their products by showcasing them on the SUPA website to get buyers and get assistance from the Government.
2. Intending Artisan – This category covers people that are not yet trained and looking to be trained on a particular handwork. You can register in this group if you are looking to learn a trade and become an artisan.
3. Training Center – these are organization which provides vocational skills training. Interested Skills Acquisition centers can register to captured as one of the training centers for the program.
These are the various categories you can sign up and be part of the force for change. Together, these groups can empower artisans, create jobs, and build a thriving economy like China did.
How to Apply
Participation in the skill up artisans’ program is through the supa.itf.gov.ng registration and login portal. Application for the Skill-Up Artisans is done online, you can follow the below steps to successfully submit your interest.
Step 1 – Visit https://supa.itf.gov.ng to start your registration.
Step 2 – Click on Register.
Step 3 – Click on Artisan (If you already have a Skill), Click Intending Artisan (If you are interested in learning a Skill) or Click on Training Center to become one of the training providers.
Step 4 – Create Account by Uploading your Photo, fill basic information, choose your Sector and Trade.
Step 5 – Click Next after you have completed all the field marked with Red Asterisk ( * ).
Step 6 – Create a Username and Password and Click Next.
Step 7 – Click on Proceed to Login and login with the Username and Password you created.
Step 8 – Complete all the field with Red Asterisk ( * ) Field that is not Asterisk can be ignored for now.
Step 9 – Check the small Button for Declaration and Click on Submit.
List of successful and shortlisted applicants and any other directives will be published on the ITF SUPA website portal or sent through email or SMS to the applicants.
Note: that the ITF SUPA Portal has a Marketplace where successful applicants can showcase their products for sale or their skills for hire. So, this will be another seller and buyer platform for artisans in Nigeria. See Marketplace here https://www.supa.itf.gov.ng/marketplace. You can be listed on the ITF SUPA program marketplace, only after you have registered and approved on the www.supa.itf.gov.ng registration portal.
