The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) is the Agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria established in 1986 with the responsibility of establishing a permanent organizational mechanism to address the increasing problem of unemployment in Nigeria.

Apart from ensuring the recruitment of qualified persons into vacant positions within the civil service, the Directorate carry out other projects that are far reaching in empowering the people, reducing abject poverty and unemployment in Nigeria.

The Directorate provides business training and facilitates the establishment of start-ups and micro-businesses as a means of job creation through the following projects.

• Rural Employment Promotion, REP
• Special Public Work, SPW
