The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Online Recruitment & Enlistment Portal is now open for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) and Basic Military Training Course Application for the Airmen & Air Women enlistment.
Similar to the Nigerian Army recruitment, the NAF is currently enlisting graduates and post-graduates for training as Direct Short Service Cadets in various professions.
This year’s NAF recruitment is in two categories depending on applicants’ qualification and interest.
- Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC)
- Airmen/Airwomen Basic Military Training Course
A. Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC)
The Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) is a type of commission in the NAF which is open to both civilians and serving military personnel. The Course provides the avenue for the enlistment of degree holders who are professionals in specified fields. Training period for this type of commission is usually 6 months of intensive both academic and military training. Successful candidates in this category are commissioned into the rank of Flying Officer.

B. Airmen/Airwomen Basic Military Training Course
The NAF Basic Military Training Course is a short period academic and military training for recruits to become Airmen and Airwomen, usually for only six months. It is mainly for non graduates who possess Secondary School Certificate, National Diploma certificate, NABTEB, RN/RM/NCE or City & Guild Certificate and Trade Test Certificate. The BMTC is comprised of Non-Tradesmen/Women recruitment with age limit between 18 and 22, and Tradesmen/Women recruitment with age limit between 18 and 25.
General Conditions for NAF Recruitment
- Applicant must be a Nigerian
- Applicant must be between the age of 20 to 30 years old
- Applicant must be at least 1.66m tall for male and 1.63m for female
- Applicant must be physically, medically and psychologically fit to withstand both military training and academic pressures.
- Applicant must have original credentials
- Applicants must NOT be an ex-convict by a court of law.
- Applicants must possess functional phone number and email address.
Required DocumentÂ
Applicants are required to upload copies of the following credentials during application and submit their original credentials for scrutiny at the Selection Board Interview Exercise. The credentials include the following:
- Two recent passport size photographs to be stamped and countersigned by officer of appropriate rank specified in Paragraph 6.
- Original and photocopy of birth certificate or Declaration of Age.
- Original and photocopy of educational/professional Certificates.
- Original and photocopy of Indigeneship certificate from applicant’s Local Government/State of Origin.
- Original and photocopy of Attestation to Good Character signed by Officer of appropriate rank.
- NYSC Discharge Certificate or Letter of Exemption from NYSC
Application Closing Date
Submission of online registration commenced on 29 January 2024 and closes on 11 March 2024.

Step 2: Create an account and fill the NAF Registration Form.
Step 3: Submit the Form.
Step 4: Take note of your Application Number.
Step 5: Print Application Summary Page.
Step 6: Download and Print Acknowledgement Cards and Attestation Cards, Parent/Guardians Consent Form and Local Government Area Attestation Form.
Step 7: Take the Local Government Area Attestation Form to your Local Government Chairman/Secretary or any military officer of the rank of Lieutenant Colonel or equivalent and above who hails from your state of origin to sign for you.
Step 8: Wait and pray for your name to be among the Successfully Shortlisted Candidates.
