The Lagos State Government has trained seventy youths in its special Graduate Trainee Program organized by the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) in partnership with the United States Africa Development Fund (USADF).

The youths went through a six weeks intensive training in office management, Digital Marketing and Customer relations amongst others.

The USADF and LSETF Employability seeks to create more job opportunities for youths in Lagos State by equipping 3000 eligible young people annually for Five years with skills that cut across various sectors.

At the Graduation Ceremony of the Trainees in Ikeja, the US consulate public affairs officer Steven Veiny explained that the employability project is one of the ways the United States of America is helping Nigeria by empowering youths most of whom are under thirty years to lead the private sector of Nigeria into the future.

He advised the graduate trainees to create diversity in their workforce and an enabling business environment.

“…include men, women and people with disabilities because the more diverse a workforce is the more productive it becomes, the more roles that you have that are very clear the more revenue you will generate and that translate into more tax revenue for the Government.”

The head of employability at the LSETF Christian Kylei Stated that the program is one of the many the fund is caring out to prepare young Nigerians for the world of work.

“… there will be more especially in this sector of work and digital marketing, there is a huge demand for it in upcoming years.”

The implementing partner Mrs. Funke Medu explained that internship placements will be secured for the trainees while they would also be assisted to get full time employment.

“They are ready to take up the talent for the next face which is to support organizations that needs their skills in Lagos state”

Some of the Trainee grandaunts confirmed that the training program was what while.

It has been so helpful to me, it what it.

When we saw that there will be a training program by the Lagos State Government online we all thought that it was a joke, we gave it a try and it was so awesome, it has impacted positively in my life.
