The Federal Ministry of Steel Development (FMSD) invites applications from interested existing and aspiring artisans for a one-month intensive boot-camp technical training programme for Nigerian youths in the metal industry.
The Ministry of Steel Development is tasked with regulating and advancing the steel and other metals sector through policies and initiatives. The Ministry is launching a one-month boot-camp training program designed to provide technical skills and support to both existing and aspiring artisans within the metals and steel industry.
Successful participants will receive equipment support after completing the training to help them grow or expand their businesses, thereby creating job opportunities and sustainable livelihoods. The program is aimed at empowering Nigerian youths with advanced technical skills in:
- Welding & Fabrication
- Industrial Foundry & Metallurgy
- Instrumentation, Systems Control & Mechanical Maintenance
Successful participants will also get:
- Expert training and mentorship
- Equipment support for business growth
- Job creation and sustainable livelihoods.
Eligibility Criteria & Training Categories
The program is open to Nigerian Youths (between ages 18-40) interested in engaging productively in metals industry. The three training categories and their respective eligibility criteria are as follows. This programme aims to empower selected youths with advanced expertise in three specialized areas as detailed below:
1. Welding and Fabrication:
- Must be a Nigerian and provide valid means of identification
- Must be between 18 and 40 years old
- May/may not have basic knowledge of welding.
- Must have at least a secondary school O’ Level certificate
- Must be able to understand and communicate in English Language
- Must submit a statement of purpose giving reasons why he/she should be selected for the programme
2. Industrial Foundry and Metallurgy:
- Must be a Nigerian and provide valid means of identification
- Must be between 18 and 40 years old.
- May/may not have basic knowledge of foundry techniques.
- Must be able to understand and communicate in English Language
- Must submit a statement of purpose giving reasons why he/she should be selected for the programme
3. Instrumentation & control System and Mechanical Maintenance
- Should be a graduate of Electrical and Electronics or Mechanical Engineering
- Must be a Nigerian an d provide valid means of identification
- Must be between 18 and 40 years.
- Must be able to understand and communicate in English Language
- Must submit a statement of purpose giving reasons why he/she should be selected for the programme
